The Middle School at Parkside is buzzing with energy this year, and it’s easy to see why. Our 5th graders are already making history; 134 students, more than half the entire grade, are proudly part of our performing groups in band, chorus, or orchestra. 🎵 From the first notes played to the songs sung in harmony, their talent and passion are setting the stage for a bright future in the arts at Parkside.
Of course, our success goes far beyond the music room. We are deeply grateful for the incredible community partners who pour into our school every single day. Seven dedicated City Year members are working side by side with our 5th and 6th-graders. OYS (
City of Manchester, NH Office of Youth Services
) is empowering students through individual support and classes in anger management and leadership. JAG is opening doors for students to explore real-world career skills that will serve them well after graduation. GMMH has two staff members on-site daily, providing consistent care and connection. And the YMCA’s STAY program is mentoring our 7th and 8th graders, guiding them toward confident and responsible leadership.
This year, even the walls of Parkside got a warm welcome! Freshmen from St. Anselm’s College spent a day of service helping teachers set up classrooms and hang colorful bulletin boards, making sure our students returned to a building filled with excitement and encouragement.
Families are also taking an active role in shaping the Parkside experience. At our first parent advisory meeting of the year, families arrived ready to share feedback and ideas. Their voices are helping us strengthen connections and ensure every student thrives.
Inside the building, our MTSS-B Tier 1 Team has launched a fresh, revamped PBIS system that celebrates student successes everywhere, from the classroom to the cafeteria. The positivity has been contagious, creating a ripple effect that students and staff alike can feel.
Our teachers are also leading the way. On the most recent PD day, several Parkside educators stepped up to train and inspire their peers. Mr. Borromeo and Mr. Nunnally introduced social studies teachers to the Mikva Challenge, a powerful program designed to empower students as leaders in their classrooms and communities. Meanwhile, Mrs. Ku shared her innovative work from Manchester CREATES at UNH. She not only highlighted cutting-edge research in regenerative medicine and biotechnology but also unveiled a 6th-grade unit she designed on bioplastics and their role in solving real-world medical problems.
From music to mentorship, from classrooms to community, the Middle School at Parkside is alive with possibility, growth, and collaboration. This year is off to an incredible start, and it’s only the beginning.
