Destination Imagination

Destination Imagination

Last Saturday, the Destination Imagination team from the Middle School at Parkside won second place in the southern New Hampshire regional tournament! Teams in first, second, and third places qualified to move on to the state tournament in two weeks with schools from all over the state. The team is composed of 7 students from fifth and sixth grade. They worked for over two months to solve an engineering challenge, building a roller coaster in the shape of an alligator.

Destination Imagination is a competition where students have the freedom to grow and collaborate without boundaries. Participants choose from several different challenges rooted in STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics) topics that inspire unique

solutions through the use of the creative process.

Good luck to our Parkside team, the Underdogs!

Cell Phone Reminder

Students’ usage of their cell phones is a distraction from their education and is a disruption to our learning environment. The expectation at Parkside is that when a student enters the building, their phone, headphones and other electronic devices are to be turned off and put away. They will not be allowed out on desks or tables.

We need the support of families with this policy. Families please do not text or call your student’s cell phone during the school day. If there is a message you need to get to your student, you can call the school and speak to someone in the office. If a student needs to make an emergency call they may use the phone in the classroom or have a pass to use the phone in the office.
