Dear Parents, Guardians and Members of the Parkside Community,
We at Parkside hope this finds you well. The first quarter will soon come to an end. We are about three weeks away from the start of quarter two. Please review your child’s grades and progress regularly as quarter grades become permanent records and are used to determine retention and promotion.
It has been a great week here. There are some news items of importance or which have been asked about. Here they are:
Student Led Conference
The tally has reached 400 students who have completed their SLC with their parents. If you have not completed this with your child, we are preparing a letter for you. We invite parents who missed to come in during the day to complete the conference.
Regular school attendance is the most important factor in success. Students who miss too many days of school or are regularly late must be looked into. Any child that has missed more than 10% of the school year at any given time is missing too much school. We understand that illness happens but please make sure to document that with a note when your child returns to school. Our plan is to intervene with families when students miss too much school. This will include contact from our guidance department and may include home visits by administration, referral to the Truancy Officer or referral to outside agencies for support. Our goal at all times is to ensure you know your child is missing school and also to provide any supports possible to improve school attendance.
Our last PTG Meeting October was well attended and the structure of the organization has been reestablished and a board has been elected. The next meeting will take place on I am pleased to announce that Superintendent Vargas will be in attendance and invite you all to attend.

Academic Success Measurements
Over the last month the number of students who are failing a class has fallen by just over 30%. Please ask your child if they have been assigned Academic Support and what day(s) it has been assigned. He/She should have been given written notice and an email may also be sent. As always, please check your child’s grades with them through the ASPEN Student Portal.
Students have committed 40% fewer disciplinary infractions when compared to the same period last year. Please continue to support your child and the expectation he/she makes the right choices.
Halloween Observance and Our First Dance
Parkside will hold our Halloween observance on . On this day students and staff will be encouraged to dress up in the spirit of the event. Costumes must be school appropriate in terms of body coverage and no masks are allowed. (Make up is allowed) Parkside will hold our first dance of the year on . This will be a Halloween themed dance. The dance will be held after school from Costumes may be worn as they were worn during the school day. The dance is open to all grade levels. Staff will chaperone the dance. Parent Chaperones are welcome. If you wish to chaperone the dance, please send Mr. Ransdell an email so we can coordinate.
is picture retake day. If your child was absent or you wish to have their picture retaken, it will take place that day. We will call students down by grade level in the morning. While it is encouraged to return the original packet it is not required.
