Principal's Update 12/2/16

posted Dec 2, 2016, 6:10 AM by Stacey Rust-Belforti

Dear Parents, Guardians and Members of the Parkside Community.

We have reached week three of quarter two.  If you received an email from me, your student is earning and "F" in one or more classes.  Missing and/or incomplete work is usually the culprit when low grades are being earned. To help avoid this, we ask you to do the following:

1.  Review grades weekly with your child through the ASPEN Student Portal.  Please have them sit with you and show you that all work is completed, has been turned in, and shows as graded.  If it is not graded, it has likely not been turned in.

2.  If your child has an F he/she has been assigned academic support for the class that is currently being failed.  Our website has a listing of every teacher's academic support night on the announcements running on the front page.

3.  Share with your child your expectations for good grades and completion of work and enforce your expectations with support and or consequences at home.

From this point in the quarter a weekly progress update will be sent.  If you do not receive one your child is passing all of his/her classes at that point each week.  Beginning in January, Friday academic supports will be held in addition to the regularly scheduled teacher assigned support days for any student who is failing classes .  Notices will be sent with students.  These sessions will be directed and monitored by Mr. Ransdell, the Principal.

With Parkside Pride!
Forrest Ransdell, Principal
