Dear Parents, Guardians and Members of the Parkside Community,
You may be aware that I (Forrest Ransdell) was recently absent from school for a period of time. You also may have read articles in the local news that provided information about the situation. I wanted to take this opportunity to inform you that I have returned to my duties and to inform you of the circumstances surrounding my absence.
A parent filed a complaint against me on October 6 alleging I improperly restrained a student. Consistent with the district's practice I was placed on administrative leave while the allegation was investigated. In situations such as this the district uses legal counsel to conduct an independent investigation. A thorough investigation was conducted and claims of the parent were found to be unsubstantiated. I did not at any time restrain the student.
Please know the students and staff at Parkside are very important to me. Safety and good order in our school building continues to be a high priority as a safe and positive culture must exist for good education to have a chance of taking place. I would not jeopardize this by being a negative example to our community.
During my absence Mrs. Courounis and Mr. Hebert did an excellent job of leading and maintaining the positive culture and educational practices at Parkside. They are to be commended for their continued and ongoing efforts. The staff also remained focused on the primary business of education. For that I thank everyone. We will all now refocus on the important job of educating the children in our care.
With Parkside Pride
Forrest Ransdell, Principal
