Calling All Parents!
Parkside needs your assistance. Do you have a couple of hours you could donate to Parkside to help in the implementation of a new project? Even if it is not every week your help would be appreciated and be welcomed by the kids and staff.
We often forget that the majority of our students are doing exactly what they are supposed to be doing, when they are supposed to be doing it and usually to the best of their ability. As we work to address the needs of many we can forget about the great everyday work and dedication of so many of our students. Parkside would like to address this need.
We are looking to implement an academic incentive program aimed at all students. The concept is simple but the implementation requires parental help.
In this program student would earn redeemable tickets for each completed assignment. The range would be from one ticket for a completed assignment with a passing grade to a maximum number of tickets (to be determined) for a completed assignment earning a grade of “A.”
As student collect these tickets they will have the opportunity to spend them on incentive items of their choice or to place them in a drawing for larger incentive items to be drawn for at the end of each quarter. We have developed a list of incentive items and raffle items that will be shared with everyone.
This program is open to all and is specifically aimed at reinforcing the already positive behavior of most of our students. It can also serve as motivation for students who have not established consistently positive work habits. It is true, “A rising tide lifts all ships.”
Here is where the parents come in. Teachers and staff do not have consistently available time to implement a program such as this. During the lunch and enrichment periods parents will man a table. Students will present assignments and tickets will be given. Other parents, will work to take tickets and distribute incentive prizes or collect raffle tickets. There would be no more than one class of kids being served at a time. we anticipate this would take place Monday through Thursday during the lunch/enrichment periods.
So…… If you have a couple of hours per week or even once in a while that could be scheduled, we could really use your help to recognize all of our kids who are just doing the right thing. Because in the end they do not deserve to be forgotten. If you can help with this project, please send an email to Forrest Ransdell the principal of Parkside (firstname.lastname@example.org). He will respond with a link to sign up for participation. We look forward to hearing from you.
